Photograph Framing

I want to frame a 8x10 photograph, but I want to find a really cool place/website to either buy a cool and different picture frame or figure out how to do it myself. Any suggestions?

Can you give an example of "cool"? So we can better direct you?

Best answer: Buy frames cheap at Goodwill, decoupage or paint them. I bought a nifty frame on sale at Marshalls and plan to paint it to match the photo better. Exposures is a catalog for frames. Michael's crafts sells frame components for work that needs a non-standard frame size. If you check out any photo magazine, there will be ads for frames and custom-cut stock frames. My faves are the ones from Goodwill that I can tart up.

Best answer: My mother was a professional picture framer for years, but she's recently taken to sandwiching a picture between two pieces of glass (or non-glare acrylic) and fastening it shut with a black binder clip (this kind) in each upper corner. The metal handles for the clips can be used to hang the picture from a nail or screw or pushpin, or thread fishing line through it. It sounds cheesy, but it's actually very attractive in a stark, mid-century modern sort of way.

Best answer: This blog post has some great advice on framing. My favorite are these (very simple and not expensive).

Best answer: The last time I was at a Michaels, I couldn't help but notice that there were two isles of 8x10 frames.

Response by poster: Wow, thanks for the answers and links. SaraDarlin, 'cool' I guess, modern, less expensive, and more DIY type format.
