Turnaround time for detaching Blizzard authenticator from account?

I lost my Blizzard Authenticator after cleaning my room... THE DAY BEFORE DIABLO! I contacted them, but I haven't heard anything. I sent in a photo of my Driver's License through their contact form for detaching the authenticator from my account, but I haven't heard anything back and it's been over 12 hours (I know I should give it time)... Anybody have any idea how long this kind of thing usually takes? I'm worried that maybe it didn't go through and maybe I should try sending again. If I had a general idea my mind would be greatly eased.

Last time I did this, I got a response within about 24 hours. I'd assume that there is probably a lot of additional volume of people doing the same thing right now too.

The only occasion I had to contact Blizzard CS it took more than 48 hours to get a response, and they weren't in the middle of an enormous product launch.

They are probably super swamped at the moment. So fixes might take longer.

If you have twitter, you can tweet at @BlizzardCS and they might be able to confirm being swamped.

I did this with a phone call when I needed to. I was on hold for about 20 minutes.

As an alternative, the authenticator is available as an app for iOS and android, and you don't need to be able to find your token to use it.

I did this less than two months ago and it took no more than 24 hours. But they are probably dealing with a lot more people now since the release, so give it 48 hours.

Seconding calling them. I got hacked on Christmas Day once and they fixed everything for me while I was on the line. They couldn't have been nicer about it and the hold time was maybe eight minutes.

When my son lost his authenticator, I called them. Waited on hold for about an hour, and then it took a bunch of emails back and forth.

But I got it fixed that day, before the raid started.

I did this three weeks ago. It took 4 hours and I opened the ticket via the web.

Response by poster: OK, thanks all - it looks like it could be anything from 4 hours to 2 days... Maybe I'll try calling. Not sure if waiting on hold for an hour is worth it, I guess I don't need my D3 fix *that* bad :P

Anecdotal data point: Last August it took less than eight hours from when I sent my scanned license. But yes, Diablo III is surely messing with them.

ApathyGirl: I believe that you can only have one authenticator attached to your account at any one time. So until they can remove the lost authenticator they can't attach a new one.

Any issues I've had with Blizzard have taken 24 to 48 hours to be taken care of. That said, it wasn't during the D3 launch.

And don't get too upset about missing out on D3 time - it's continually up and down right now with full servers and bugs. Hang tight - you'll get there!
