Who to follow on Twitter - wife edition

Which journalists, cultural commentators and other cultural figures do Twitter well?

Please help my wife follow interesting and funny people on Twitter.

Celebrities that are interesting on Twitter are also acceptable, as are cynical snarky types.

She's pretty new to Twitter, so she's just looking for anything interesting.

I tend to follow people in Education, so all my suggestions are the complete opposite of what she wants.

There are a lot of NPR/PBS journalists and shows that are on Twitter and use it well:

• Andy Carvin is the online community organizer at NPR, he's been doing a lot of middle-east reporting over the last year.
• Peter Sagel of Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me.
• Fresh Air
• News Hour
• Radio Lab

Other random folk:

• If she's into classical music, Hilary Hahn's violin case gives beautiful backstory to being a world-renouned musician.
• Bill Nye, the science guy
• Fake AP Stylebook is wonderful for word people

I'll second Neil Gaiman and John Scalzi, and add Susan Orlean.

And along with Fake AP Stylebook, I really enjoy Guardian Style - a real stylebook, but with a fine sense of humor (and some snark).
