Cleaning pilates band?

How to properly clean one of those pilates/resistance/exercise band thingies?

After months of use, my handy dandy pilates band is filthy from sweat, shoe dirt, and cat hair. I tried washing it with soap. I tried washing it with alcohol. Now all of the edges are stuck together and I'm afraid handy dandy will never be the same. Is there an effective way to clean this thing without making it sticky and nasty? Or are these bands disposable? (Sorry if there is an overly simple answer to this. I've Googled many times and never got any satisfactory results.)

I've never tried to clean a resistance band, but I wonder if you could get rid of the stickiness by dusting it with powder or corn starch?
