Help me find an elusive summer perfume

Just before Christmas 2011 I sampled a perfume in a Sephora in Ohio that I’d love to buy now, if possible. Unfortunately, I remember neither the brand nor the name of the perfume. Can anyone identify this elusive scent?

The perfume itself was a summery, salty, suntan-lotiony smelling blend that wasn’t overly sweet or heavy.

The box was white with a watercolor-like illustration, possibly including a beach, definitely involving the color blue.

The name may have included some version of the word Mediterranean.

The brand may begin with H, since Sephora organizes their scents alphabetically by brand. This was not the only perfume by this maker, and all of the other boxes had similar watercolor-like illustrations but with different color palettes.

I’d love to find this again! Sephora associates have been unable to help, since each store’s inventory is slightly different and their perfumes turn over fairly rapidly. Googling has been similarly fruitless.

Is it any of these? I just started typing mediterranean into the search box on Sephora.com, and this is what came up.

Response by poster: Although that sounds delicious as well, that bottle isn't ringing any bells for me, and the description doesn't sound quite right. I'd have to sniff it to be sure, though!

RogerB had what I would say. Here's the box art.

And that would explain why you can't find it at Sephora now - from the website, it looks like Sephora no longer carries Hermes.

Best answer: And that would explain why you can't find it at Sephora now - from the website, it looks like Sephora no longer carries Hermes.

Some bricks-and-mortar stores (at least here in L.A.) are still carrying it. But they did take it off their website recently, so my hunch is it's being phased out in general (or may only be available in markets where it's popular?).

A note about the Hermes "Jardin" fragrances -- they are incredible and luscious and wonderful, but are notorious for having no staying power, which is really too bad, considering the price. Some people (I am sadly not one of them) find that it's not so bad on them, so my advice would be to spend a few dollars on sample (you can order one from here, for example) and wear it for a couple of days. You might be one of the lucky ones on whom it doesn't fade entirely after an hour.

Response by poster: Thanks scody. I'd hate to buy that at full-price and be disappointed. I'll be sure to check out a sample first!

You can make perfumes last longer if you apply it over oil or lotion. A good inexpensive way to do this would be to rub on a little jojoba oil and apply the perfume over that.

If The Fragrance Shop sells it, it will be an oil which will last longer.

Regarding the staying power of the Jardin fragrances - I sometimes wear Jardin sur le Nil and find that on me the perfume lasts almost too long! I can often still smell the base notes on myself the following day. So mileage certainly varies.
