How do I import mail from OS X Mail to Windows Outlook 2003?

Does anyone know how to get Windows Outlook 2003 to import all of my old mail from OS X's Mail.app?

I know its a lame ask.metafilter question, but I've already broken one mouse in frustration over this today. Please hope me.

Not lame, but it could be very difficult -- I hesitate to say impossible. What version of OS X are you running? Tiger's Mail.app stores messages differently than previous versions.

I tracked down a shareware program called Emailchemy that looks like it could be a godsend for anyone moving email from one program to another. The free demo is crippled, so you'll have to pony up $25 for a working version.

This one works with all versions of Mail, including Tiger.

probably the easiest way is to throw all your old emails on an email account that supports IMAP. then connect to the IMAP account using outlook and import away.

there are a handful of free IMAP accounts around if you google for them

I did a LOT of research on this about 7-8 months ago. Emailchemy is definitely the way to go.
