How Do I Limit My Google Alert Results to English Only?

How do I eliminate foreign language results in Google Alert results?

One of my many Google Alerts is a search for a name that apparently means something in Hungarian (?) and/or another foreign language. Sometimes all the hits are in a foreign language and I do not want to see any hit other than when the word/name comes up in English. Is there an operator or some way to tell Google I only want English results?

This is for search results. How do I limit it for Google Alert results. Or am I reading this wrong?

I just checked that. I thought there was a save search feature after you did an advanced search but I'm not seeing it now. This is the relevant operator from the URL.

&lr=lang_en

Try fitting that into the URL for your alert results.

Bit of a workaround, but are there standard terms that regularly show up on the foreign language results? You could add a minus sign + that term (eg. "-foreign") to the Alert.

This Alerts FAQ (#12) says that the Alert you create should respect the language prefs in place at the time you create the Alert, if I am reading it right. So, hmm.

That was my understanding as well, but despite "knowing" my language prefs were set many moons ago when I first set up the alert, I redid it a few months ago checking first my preferences but no change in the alerts results.

I just added the "&lr=lang_en" to the alert as suggested by COD.
