Best quiet coffee shops in New York? April 9, 2012 10:15 AMSubscribe
What are the best quiet (i.e. non-music-playing) coffee shops in New York? By best I mean with both great coffee and comfortable space to work. posted by shivohum to food & drink (3 answers total) 8 users marked this as a favorite
In the west village, Grounded on Jane street is nice and quiet. Lots of folks bring their laptops and work there. Good coffee too. posted by cazoo at 10:29 AM on April 9, 2012
I like Birch Coffee on 27th St, which is attached to the Gershwin Hotel. The coffee shop itself is usually fairly packed with people, but the hotel has a very large, spacious, funky, quiet lobby full of old couches which is usually pretty empty, and you can totally bring your coffee in there and camp out. posted by showbiz_liz at 10:29 AM on April 9, 2012 [1 favorite]
If you don't mind Columbia grad students, the Hungarian Pastry Shop is a great place - delicious, bottomless coffee and no music. posted by Lutoslawski at 4:01 PM on April 9, 2012 [1 favorite]
