How to recover digital images

Can you help rescue my digital photographs from their silver grave?

With my shiny new Canon Ixus 50 (SD 400 in the US) I spent a night taking pictures of various drunken people doing comedy things. On the way home I went to have a look through them ... and they all came up Unidentified Image. It's done this once before, and a restart of the camera cured it. Not this time, though.

A google session tells me that apparently this is a problem with Canon cameras and ByteStor SD cards when you put more than 100Mb on them.

So ... er ... is there anything I can do? Can I recover these somehow? I don't have a card reader or anything like that -- I just connect it with a USB lead.

Thanks effugas. I, er, should point out that I'm on a Mac. Sorry.

There have been a few other similar questions on AskMe recently. Maybe there's something in there that would help you?
