Question: commercail jingle identification?

Name that jingle. No lyrics. I don't even know on what commercials it can be heard. It's failry old, but not that obscure. I've googled and used melody search engines but had no luck. Here's how the basic melody goes...

up, up, up, down, down, up, down.
up, up, up, down, down, up, down.
up, up, up, down,up. down, down, up. down, down,up,down,up

repeat

The notes sound as if they are being played on some synthethsized instrument and are very short and simple. Almost like syntheitic bubbles melodically popping for each note.

ouke, I can see why you'd think so, haha. The ups and downs represent melody shifts, though, not lyrics.

p3t3, that's it! Thanks!
Popcorn (midi)

It has an interesting history, too.

Cheers :)

Aphex Twin once did a cover of Popcorn too (under the 'Caustic Window' name I think). Mostly the same catchy melody but with some busy breakbeat rhythms underneath.

I was confused by your notation, typed it into Grand Theft Auto, and you wouldn't believe the hidden minigame... let's just say they need to invent a rating for this.

haha, it's actually a variation of the Parson's Code, an ingenious method of searching for music. Didn't work for me, but hey.

Anyone who was around in the 80's should also instantly recognize this as the music from the arcade game 'Pengo'.

For those of us in the UK, be forewarned that "Popcorn" will soon be returning to the singles charts with the support of, yes, Crazy Frog.

Anyone who was around in the 80's...

who wasn't already too old to be playing Pengo, whatever that was. I know it from when it was a radio hit in something like 1972.

Popcorn is also remixed by a DJ Mystik, with lyrics thrown in too. I *think* I found it on Kazaa a couple of years ago when I was looking for Dance Dance Revolution soundtrack music. The lyrics are available on Google.
