Trying to find a video - fake commercial for a service that'll let you talk to loved ones after they die by letting an app mine their social networking data. Features a bloke receiving creepy messages from his dead wife / girlfriend.

Are you sure it was a joke? There are several purported services that are really doing stuff like this. Google "social media after death."

Finding the exact one may be a needle/haystack problem, but I thought I'd clue you to the grim reality. :-)

I know exactly what you're talking about -- even the final scene where the service will read loved one's posthumous messages to you with a creepy voice synthesizer -- but I can't track it down for the life of me.

randomkeystrike - yep, people are trying to do stuff like this for reals - which is making it much harder to find this one!
