Photoshop elements freezes when printing

When I try to print from Photoshop Elements (and also the windows explorer page), the print screen freezes. Usually, it comes around in about five minutes or so, but does this every time I try to change a setting. I'm using Windows 7, 32 bit and I've tried turning my firewall off -- any other suggestions?

More info to help us - this doesn't happen when printing from notepad?
