U.S. and China: The clash of civilisations? Is the U.S. clashing culturally with China within contexts of international diplomacy, such as during the events of the Arab Spring or the Israel-Palestine peace process?

The "Middle East Peace Process" has been the centre of media attention and regarded as one of the most pressing global issues among world leaders. I feel that this is especially the case for the U.S. who has been heavily involved in the region for a better part of the last century as part of its crusade for democracy, as well as China, who in a short period of 50 years or so has also become a key player in the arena of international diplomacy.

The bilateral relationship between the two political hegemonies cannot be denied as one of the most, if not the most important political relationships of today. However it looks like this partnership is coming to a halt when dealing with the current events occurring within the Middle East. I understand that there will naturally be competition regarding energy resources and other misaligned interests, but it seems that this problem has far deeper roots, such as the inherently polarising nature of their cultures and methods of executing foreign policy. What do you all think?
