Would you feel bad about dumping someone on Valentine's Day?

If someone breaks up with someone on Valentine's day, do they usually feel bad afterwards?

My boyfriend dumped me on Valentine's day night (and left me sobbing on my front stoop and he cycled away..) after a couple of weeks of arguments (99% of the time we got along)(nothing very severe..except maybe I'd threaten to break-up with him when he did something that made me angry or I felt I was being "ignored" -___- (clearly I am regretting this..).

Pretty sure he did it because he was hurt by my actions when he left he said "I'm sure you'll meet someone who will give you more attention than I did", and wanted to hurt me back. The next day after many e-mails,calls and texts by me he said I was "too needy, too high-maintenance" and he was blocking all forms of contact from me...all because I was upset and sending 20+ texts in a row (guys really don't like this..)

He is not a jerk FYI, he cared about me a great deal. Whenever I told him I was upset about something related to him, he'd tell me "I'm sad because you're sad". I'm stumped on what I should do, I'd like to end everything on a positive note...i'm just afraid that he won't want to or care. I'm guessing by the fact that he was hurt by my actions, meaning that he cared about me and liked me a great deal means something good?

But to end it on valentine's day...and leave someone crying hysterically...ugh. I don't want to date anymore.
