Playable copies of copies, possible?

How can I make playable copies of pirated copies of "unavailable for purchase" PlayStation 1 games?

A friend of mine has an amazing collection of pirated PlayStation 1 games that he bought in Korea. Many of them are Japanese games that were never released in the US. I am trying to make copies of the most obscure games, but my copies do not run as well as his "originals."

What software can I use to make the best copies possible?

I was trying to use the newest version of CloneCD, but it can't seem to finish ripping some of the games, and the copies I have made so far have much longer load times, music that skips, and movies that freeze, making many of them unplayable.

What can I do?

For folks who do this all the time: Does burn speed matter? Does it really help to burn at 1x (because I am not noticing a difference)? Does the color of the bottom of the CD-R matter?

Thanks!

This post was deleted for the following reason: Sorry, this is a little on-the-nose as far as "help me pirate games" goes. You can probably find decent answers to this stuff on more dedicated specialist sites. -- cortex

This is probably something that Ask MeFi should not be answering, as it veers into questionable legal territory.

Emulators are your answer here.

Most disc based systems would check the region and a few other fancy doohickies to make sure you were playing a legit game. In order to fake that the most common method is to put in a legit game, then pull it out real fast at a certain point while not letting the system know you opened the disc drive, and put in your fake game.
