[Ejaculation Pain Filter] My prostate is slowing down my sex life...

Frequently after I ejaculate, I feel intense pain in my penis and testicles, focused at the base of each. This is more likely to happen when I ejaculate in the evening or after I've ejaculated a few times in the day. It's also more likely to happen the longer I am aroused before ejaculating. I doesn't happen all the time, but maybe a couple times a month. It makes all-day sex and late-night less appetizing (nothing to do with the refractory period). Both of these are awesome and I'd like to do them more. I'm 30 and have no STDs.

I spoke to a doctor about this maybe 8 years ago. He checked my prostate and told me it was inflamed. The likely explanation is that the way I use the muscles around the prostate when I have sex exacerbates this. This explains the late-night and multi-sex occurrences.

I think doctor said there was some medication available, but recommended that I focus on relaxing the prostate area. I've been doing that, but apparently clenching my prostate is an unconscious thing for me; when I notice, I stop, but I don't always notice.

I think I'm going to see another doctor about this soon, to explore my options, but I wanted to put this out to the hive mind to see if anyone had any experiences with stopping this. I know you are not a/my doctor.

So I'm no doctor, but this seems like a mild chronic infection to me too. Seems like when you don't have as much prostate fluid in the prostate because you've ejaculated, there's less cushioning, so things rub together more and there's more pain. Or when your prostate is refilling fluid gets pushed through unhappy tubes.

I had a much milder version of post-ejaculation discomfort, and I permanently cured it by masturbating like a maniac for about two weeks--several times a day, using the most intense porn I could find, if necessary, to keep up the pace. YMMV. Basically I was keeping things cleaned out so bacteria couldn't get a foothold and my body eliminated the infection. I might be completely wrong about this, and this might not work for you.

You've been ineffectively focusing on one part of that doctor's advice for eight years, and basically ignoring the rest? All the while dealing with chronic pain in your junk? I don't know what on earth you are waiting for. Go see a doctor, anything someone on AskMe suggests is just going to have to be checked out by one anyway.

See a urologist. A general practice doctor just isn't going to be as familiar with the possible range of treatment.

I was searching for prostate-y things on AskMe and just came across this. I had been having similar troubles for most of my sexual history and just thought it was normal. In the past, I've had ultraounds of my testicles and nothing was ever found, so doctors told me it was just bad blueballs, and I lived with it. My girlfriend pushed my to have it checked again. Just this morning, I had a prostate ultrasound. They found a cyst - 1cm in diameter and the doc is almost certain it's the cause of my pain. He's starting me on Flomax to see if it goes away. If you haven't had a ultrasound of your prostate, try and get one. It's pretty unpleasant, but I'm really happy it was done, because I finally found an answer.
