Provincetown clambake for out-of-towners: public or private beach?

Clambake wedding: better at a Provincetown hotel with a private beach, or are there public beaches in easy walking distance? Can you recommend either a nearby public beach or a hotel with private beach that will allow outside catering?

I'm in the beginning stages of planning a wedding, and one idea we've tossed around is a clambake in Provincetown. We'll have a lot of out-of-town guests, some with mobility issues, so my preference would be a hotel where everyone can stay together, and then take a brief walk on down to the beach for ceremony and food. But most hotels will only allow their own catering... ? I know there might be public beaches, but I'm concerned at how accessible they are for the mobility-challenged. I'd appreciate any insight you have -- thanks!

Mac's in Wellfleet catered terrific a lobster clambake at our (formal!) wedding in Truro this summer – their catering director could surely answer this.

I'd post this question on local boards in wedding specific fora like weddingbee, the knot, or indiebride.

Response by poster: We actually decided to do something different, but thanks for your help -- both good suggestions.
