I'm trying to track down a book about a girl and mirrors that lead into another world/ It's some time since I read it so the details are a bit sketchy... The girl lives in an apartment filled with mirrors. Very early in the story, she is drawn through a mirror to a different world that includes a castle and a king that had lost his mind. Mirrors are very different in this world - they are very powerful objects that can be used to translocate etc. She becomes a powerful mirror manipulator...

Best answer: A quick search with your keywords suggests it's the two-part Mordant's Need series by Stephen R. Donaldson. The first book in the series is The Mirror of Her Dreams.

Yes this is definitely Mordants Need. Always thought it would make a fantastic mini-series.
