I'm looking for a quote where a (black?) activist says he prefers the pre apartheid politics of South Africa to the USA.

The only clues I can give you:

*It might not have been a man at all. It might have been a gruff sounding woman.
*The quote was sampled on either an Ice Cube or an Ice T song from ten+ years ago.
*It goes very roughly along the lines of: "I have more respect for South Africa than I do for the USA, because the USA says it is an angel, but it is nothing more than a devil in disguise."

I thought this would be a cinch to Google for – but not so!

I believe the quote you are looking for is from Malcolm X:
