Help re-name our popular Toronto Storytelling event!

A colleague and I have been running a storytelling event/organization in Toronto for a year and a half now. We run live events showcasing people telling true, personal stories live on stage.

We have been working with a larger organization in the past and have used their name, but are separating from them and want to re-brand and forge our own identity. But what to call ourselves? We need your suggestions!

Our monthly events feature 9-10 storytellers, our nights are based loosely around a theme. Stories run the gamut from side-splitting to tear-inducing, and we are known around town for our amazing, supportive audience and the sense of intimacy and community at our event. We are looking for a name with national appeal (so nothing Toronto-centric) as we'd like to branch out into other cities, and maybe to the radio!

We'd love your input!

I know you asked for nothing Toronto centric, but I got

Toronto Rondo

Toronto Rondo Radio for the show.

As someone who only recently became aware of the whole story telling thing, i've got to say - the names are pretty confusing, usually, and don't tell you anything about what they are. (ie. I heard someone mention the Moth about four times before i asked what it was. i've since discovered there's other events that i'd seen in events listing that i never knew were storytelling.)

So, basically: try and pick a name with the word 'story' in it! Or that other wise describes the experience! Maybe.. i dunno... Story Time? Tell Me A Story? Telling Tales?

BeSpeak ?

Be. Speak.

Bespeak ?

(I have been hoping to attend one, and am sorry I missed the last one.)

(The more you write the word "speak", the funnier it looks.)

(or, you know - BeSpoke - thinking of the Spoke Club, though.)

Tell Me!

and when you're advertising it, you can add a time, like tell me tuesday, and on the night it happens, it's tell me now.

As mentioned above, with one of the most popular series of this ilk called "The Moth" you're pretty safe in picking anything that sounds good to you!

Our local version is called "Slant" which seems random but they took it from a quote from Emily Dickinson (“Tell all the truth but tell it slant.” )

I'd suggest looking to works from famous Canadian storytellers/authors and pull something out of that.

The Hook - It hooks you/plus plays with the idea you could get The Hook if your story isn't good enough (though I'm sure you would not do that).

They are true, personal stories, right? How about something rather literal - I'd be totally interested in "So Here's What Happened To Me".

No name suggestions, but from your description I'm pretty sure I've attended one of your events when I was in Toronto for a conference (though I also used to live there). I went because one of my friends was speaking. I'd never heard of the bigger organisation and the other name, and would have had no clue what it was if she hadn't invited me, so I can understand why you want a new name.
