Where are my files?

Question on Windows networking, my own knowledge has failed me...

On my own network at home (3 WinXP machines, plain old file sharing) my girlfriend's PC sees all the file shares on the server just fine but on my own PC I only see some of the files (if the server has 10,000 mp3's her machine will also list 10,000 mp3's but mine will list some arbitrarily smaller number, say 8,900 mp3's) and no matter what I do the extra files wil not show, any help here?

maybe try making a new folder, sharing it, then drop all the music into it?

File permissions issue? Try highlighting and changing permissions on all files when logged in as an admin-level account.

Response by poster: LOL, I fiddled with permissions on the server for one folder that wouldn't appear on the workstation and a DIFFERENT folder that wouldn't appear now appears... doesn't sound like config issue to me, sounds like wipe out Windows...

Your file system could have errors. Try running checkdisk.
