Rebelling against body mod conformity!

I can't be the only crafter looking for this! I'd like to make my own prong-set body jewelry... can you help me source the findings?

For comfort reasons, I wear short, 16 or 18 gauge labrets in my plain-jane vanilla ear piercings. It's pretty awesome. My earring posts don't stab me when I sleep. They never get tangled in my hair. I never lose them.

I'm not in love with the options for the ends of my posts, though. Basically, I'm stuck with plastic balls, metal balls, or cubic zirconia! I'd like to find a simple way of crafting some new options.

There are thousands of places to buy empty prong settings for traditional earrings. Is there anywhere to buy empty prong settings for internally threaded posts?

Skill Level: using pliers, yes! Soldering or drilling stuff, no. Pulling fake stones out of my cheapo prong-set labrets seems next to impossible without destroying them.

Labret is a piercing below the lip not a style of jewelry. Could you clarify what you mean?

(Ms. Vegetabl)
I know what you're talking about. I'm going to recommend, actually, that you talk to my piercer, Micah, who now makes his own jewelry. He takes custom orders, too. Scylla jewelry in Chicago.
(Other than that, I just have neometal, which is probably similar to what you already have.)

I'm thinking that the best option might be to outsource this to someone with the chops to do any soldering or the like. I don't know that it can be done, but you may want to talk to a local jewler (or one on etsy) about having a prong base attached to a barbell disc end. Body Circle Designs might also be willing to help you, if you contact them, and can at least provide you with a disc end to use as a base in this endeavor.

I know this isn't what you asked about, but there are more options besides metal balls, plastic balls and cubic zirconia.

Anatometal is one of the best metal body jewelry manufacturers. Body Art Forms and Tribalectic are two big resellers.

Response by poster: Sorry about that... my understanding was that the piercing and the style of jewelry generally used in that piercing are both referred to as a labret. I mean "something-in-front, straight barbell, flat disc in back"
