Is this cat puke reason for concern?

Posting for a friend:

my cat is vomiting a yellow liquid...she normally throws up chunks of food and hair like normal, (She's a longhair) but this was very liquidy and mustard yellow. Not sure if I need to take her to the vet.

One time, no, not a concern, there are a lot of reasons that she may have barfed. If her behavior changes, her eating habits, if it continues...then call the vet....

Our former roommate's cat would vomit a similar substance from time to time. It was usually a precursor for a really huge hairball later. It is gross, but probably fine. If it happens again and you don't see productive vomit (ie, hairball, chunks of food) within the next day or so, then call the vet.

I love cats, but they are so gross sometimes.

If the cat is eating, not lethargic and does not repeat multiple times in a day (like 4+, sometimes cats don't get it all out at once) then it's fine.

They do tend to throw up a lot. And sometimes eat it...

It really could be undigested food or stomach juice stuff that can't get through cause of a hairball. I've seen cats do it a lot. Be on the lookout for the hairball!

Lethargy (or odd behavior) and lack of appetite are your keys here.

We had a longhair cat growing up. The yellow 'bile' (for lack of a better word) was rarer than the other pukes but hardly uncommon. I wouldn't be worried unless there was another sign or two of trouble. More unproductive chucks, poor appetite, poor drinking, lethargy, unusual social habits (more or less social than normal), bad stools, urinating in unusual places, etc.

I loved Lizzy but I think it would be a long, hard think before getting another longhaired cat. Much more maintenance and cleanup!

Going to the litter box a lot is also a trouble sign, forgot that one.

Has she got food? Bile barfs are empty tummy barfs for our crew.

If she is having trouble with a hairball, Laxatone might help move things through. I had to use it for my long-haired cat.

Cats can be puke machines. Yellow barf isn't usual. Frequent vomiting can be a problem, more than one or twice a week, but cats do vomit. They get more frequent as they get older too.

Grass and greenery is a common cause too. Our little meow-cows often have a strand of green in theirs.

Our cat has started bringing up yellow vomit this week, just once a day though. Wife is taking him to the vet this morning. Did you end up figuring out what caused it?
