New Day Rising alternate release?

I thought I read somewhere (here? there?) that there is a alternate release of Husker Du's album New Day Rising with less studio production. Where might I buy such a thing?

Not heard that, but there have been persistent criticisms of the CD mastering for the SST releases, which includes New Day Rising. I've got rips of both CD and vinyl, and the CD version sounds muddier than the vinyl rip.

My understanding is that the production was never that great or polished to begin with, intentionally, so I think the vinyl release is probably the best available. Any remastering is only going to happen with the agreement and consent of Bob Mould and Grant Hart, so when hell freezes over, I guess..
