Ved Mehta lost his sight at 4, if that's close enough.

Kody Keplinger has recently written about her blindness. (She has very minimal sight, and is legally blind.)

I am note sure whether Gary Forsythe, the historian, had been blind from birth. He's certainly been blind for a long time.

Hmm. Blind from age 3, probably too late. Still: Taha Hussein.

Helen Keller was 19 months old when she went deaf and blind. Is that too late? I can't remember it ever being suggested that she had memory of sight or vision.
