T-Shirt Hunt

I am looking for this T-shirt, a cartoon of Mt. Vesuvius saying "Pompeii? I am sorry." I saw it in Naples, Italy while visiting, at a couple of stores - one of them was the store at the Archaeological Museum. Can anyone tell me where I can find or buy it online?

Hmm, a closer look reveals an artist's name, "Marassi"; captioned as "A t-shirt we found on Capri."

Response by poster: That's a great clue, MonkeyToes, good eyes. So here's something else similar by this artist. If I could find a place to purchase the merchandise online I'd be so happy. My Italian's too rudimentary to be of much help following links on ITalian sites.

Riccardo Marassi (I hope your Italian is better than mine).

Response by poster: I can make some of it out, but no external links.

Well, if you have an Italian-speaking friend, perhaps you could ask him yourself on Facebook? That's about all the detecting I have in me tonight, but I wish you well in your search.

These are pretty common all over the Bay of Naples area, and I think they're available in the Pompeii gift shop. I have a friend who is working in Pompeii for a couple weeks. If you can't find an online source and can wait several weeks I can a) ask her if she can pick one up; b) get it from you when I see her at Thanksgiving; c) send it to you from the UK. I know it's a bit round-about but it might be an option.

Response by poster: I saw them all over the Bay of Naples and Pompeii too and am kicking myself for not getting one - perfect Christmas gift for my dad, who thought it was hilarious. I don't remember seeing them at the Pompeii gift shop, which was almost completely books and posters, but I might be wrong because I was not t-shirt shopping at the time. Certainly some of the vendor stalls clustered around the Pompeii scavi might have them.

Following MonkeyToes' clues I have been trolling around online and not having any luck finding a retailer (though I'm enjoying Marassi's blog and other cartoons, which are way more political - it's field-day time with Berlusconi!) But since it would take me a lot of time to compose a comprehensible note to thim, I wouldn't mind taking you up on your offer to send from the UK and would be more than happy to reimburse you for not only your postage, but time and trouble too! Let me know if you're willing and we can make arrangements via MeMail!

I've been in touch with my friend who is checking out the situation. She's going to get back to me with availabilty, sizes, and prices. I'll keep you posted!

Miko, I can't help much but I know precisely the shirt you're talking about. I've lived in Pompei each summer for the past few years and saw that shirt all over - fwiw, I didn't see it a single time this year, so the run of shirts may have ended? But here's hoping Eumachia L F's contacts can find them for you!

Eumachia L F, I just had to pop in and say that I think your offer is so kind and thoughtful. Yay, you!

My friend has gotten back to me with info. She's only been able to find child sizes, which is what I was afraid of. Are you still interested?
