Something nice for the bride

My mate is getting ready for her wedding day at my house. Looking for suggestions for things to do and treats for her.

A friend of mine will be getting ready for her wedding at my house this Friday. It will be a small ceremony at the registrar, not a big church white wedding.

She will be coming the night before to stay with my husband and I, because we have more space, she can chill out a bit and get ready without the groom seeing her!

I am really excited for her, but would like to do something special for her in preparation for her big day. We will have to be at the hairdresser super early so big breakfast at home is not an option, but as we are friends with the hairdresser we could potentially take something away. She will arrive on Fri (tomorrow) late afternoon. So I don't have a lot of time!

Any ideas appreciated!

My wife said the only thing keeping her sane was a glass of wine. This was for a small (20 people) ceremony. So, super early in the morning maybe not wine, but how about mimosas?

Is she doing her own makeup at your place? If so, a table set up with a chair and a mirror (ideally by a window) would be really nice. Nothing fancy, just so she doesn't have to do her makeup over the sink. Even if she's really low key, it's the one day where this ritual should be a bit more pampered and convenient. A small vase with a few flowers would be a nice touch.

Does her room have somewhere for her to hang her dress? Does it have a full length mirror? If not, is there another one in the house you could move temporarily?

Can you do a special wakeup call? It depends on her nature of course. I am a notorious sleeper, I can sleep through a hurricane and the night before my wedding I was out like a light. My MOH and my best friend woke me up really gently and excitedly (imagine how your mom would wake you up on your birthday). It was just really fun to wake up giggling compared to me normally slamming my hand on the snooze button.

If she's showering in the morning, how about a mini set of super luxury lovely smelling shower gel and lotion set atop your best guest towel?

Breakfast may be out of the question, but how about hot chocolate (with marshmallows!) or really scrummy coffee in a travel cup on the way to the hairdressers?

Champagne! And if there's time and money, maybe the two of you go and get your nails done the night before.

When I went to the hairdresser the morning of my wedding, they had champagne and orange juice and pastries for me and my girls. It was awesome. See if your hairdresser does something like that and if not, bring everything you'd need.

Whiskey and fried chicken. Maker's Mark or Jameson's, depending on her preference.

Make sure she has substantial, grab and go type foods for breakfast and lunch. She may not feel hungry, but it would be wise for her to have a bagel or power bar or something in addition to champagne, hair spray fumes, and adrenaline.

Champagne & OJ while doing your hair. Maybe have some nice croissants with nice ham and cheese. I am guessing you are Australian (from the mate comment) so you'll probably have access to a nice bakery so you can probably get some still nice and warm early in the morning or some nice rolls.

Have some nice cold meats and cheeses and fruits in a hamper ready to go along with the champagne, that way you can get some protein into her too. We did something similar for my SIL while she was getting ready. She was from Denmark and it is a very traditional European sort of breakfast but way better for for a stressful & exciting day than sugary pastries.

Frame a picture of her and her fiancee, and put it on her nightstand.

Can you call the groom and have him record her a wakeup message to give her on the wedding morning? A letter would work as well.

Lots of finger food...

Make a playlist of her favorite music to blast as she's getting ready. Take lots of pictures of you two goofing around.

Fruit and toast and tea in the morning, and maybe a nice fluffy bathrobe for her to relax in!

Everything so far sounds nice, but I would add something to breakfast with protein, so that she'll have some lasting energy to get through all the preparations!

All good advice! Make sure the room where she'll be getting ready is warm. She'll be spending quite a bit of time half-dressed, and nerves can make you chilly.

Manicurist over the night before?

Take pictures! My biggest regret from my wedding was that there was no one there to take a picture of me in my gown hailing a taxi to get to my ceremony.

Also make sure you have on hand some emergency items that would otherwise require a trip to the store - stockings, hair pins, safety pins, needle and thread, deodorant, mouthwash, stuff like that.
