Healthy Money

Are there any credit unions that offer Health Saving Accounts (HSA's) to people who live in Seattle? It doesn't look like it's offered by any of the big ones (BECU, Watermark, Verity, Seattle Metropolitan). I'm not happy with HSABank's lack of online bill pay and want to support CU's in any case.
First Tech do - I've been using them for three years and I've always been pleased with their service. It looks like they operate in Seattle.

Response by poster: I meant to mention that I'm self-employed. So (I believe) my options are limited.

While most of First Tech's eligibility requirements are difficult to meet for a self-employed resident of Seattle, one is easy — being a member of the Financial Fitness Association. Anyone can join the FFA, you can apply online, and it only costs $5 a year.

My friend (in Illinois) has had a good experience with Stanford Federal's HSA. At the time, anyway, they paid quite a nice rate and their online services were easy to use. He made a small contribution to Friends of Palo Alto Library to become eligible.

It's also worth noting that once you're a member of a credit union, you're a member for life even if you stop meeting the eligibility requirements. So if you join gthe Financial Fitness Association, you only have to be a member when you join, you don't have to keep paying that membership fee.

I've had good service from Patelco Credit Union's (California) HSA. I'm in another state but it works fine.

Response by poster: Just an update for future Googlers: Sound Credit Union, which just merged with Watermark, offers HSA's. As a Watermark customer... yay!
