Keep the gate shut!

How do I operate the hold back function on a gate lock (Lockwood 002 deadlatch with lever)? Someone keeps setting it open on our apartment gate and I want it shut. Can't work out how to do it - if you don't know for this one, maybe how it works for yours so I can try?

The Lockwood deadlocks on my parents' home have a small round button that releases the tang after it's been pushed into the hold-open position. That button is on the same face of the lock that the tang itself protrudes from, so it's hidden when the door is closed. Perhaps your gate lock has something similar?
