Have there been any studies that have looked at a link between intellectual disabilities and physical strength?

Potentially-very-offensive-filter: Has the stereotype of "retard strength" ever been empirically examined? Where did this come from?
I assumed, like many stereotypes, that it's just another old, mean, meme that has no basis in reality when examined in a controlled study.
So I ask, have been any studies that have looked at a link between intellectual disabilities and physical strength?
If not, can you speculate on the origin of this stereotype?
Again, I'm really sorry if you are offended by this post; this was not my intention. I debated a long time whether to post this or not.
