Texts on social inequality / exclusion suggestions?

Textbooks or readers on social inequality / exclusion - especially with a global perspective?
I'm teaching a MA level course that will cover the concept of social exclusion for about a third of the course. I've never taught this concept before, although it is a secondary research interest of mine. My own course on this topic was from an international development perspective and didn't address the concept as completely I would like.
I'd love to have a textbook / reader that organizes thinking about the concept thematically rather than me pulling together tons of different readings.
In an initial search I've seen some texts that focus a lot on race issues within the U.S., others that focus on poverty in the UK, but very few that look at social inequality / exclusion from a variety of perspectives (poverty, education, disability, etc.) and especially those that also include global inequality issues.
Any suggestions?
I've googled for syllabi both in the U.S. and the UK (this concept is much more British than American). And since this is a secondary research interest for me, I'm not on listservs where I can ask for suggestions.

Response by poster: This is a communication course, but this social exclusion framework would be pretty sociological.

Have you tried searching with the terms "intersectionality" and "social exclusion"? Intersectionality is the term I'm familiar with (women's studies/gender studies background) to describe what you're talking about.
