What should we wear for Hallowe'en?

I'd like to dress my two year old as an owl for Hallowe'en, what should my husband and I go as?

My son likes owls and I thought it would be cute to dress him as one this year, but I need ideas on what my husband and I should wear to go along with his outfit. Last year I made him a parrot costume and we were pirates, and everyone seemed to get a kick out of that.
I was thinking we could go as scarecrows, but it seems like he should then be a crow, and, well, crows just aren't as cute as owls. So tell me what we should do!

Birdwatchers? A witch and a wizard? Athena and...hmm, an olive tree?

If you don't think this would be too cutesy (by which I mean get creative with the characters and don't just buy cheesy Disney costumes), you could be other Hundred Acre Wood dwellers, such as Kanga (with a Roo), Piglet, Rabbit, Eeyore and/or Christopher Robin.

Or, y'know, Pooh and Tigger.

OR! Or or or... one of you could be the pussycat and one of you could be a pig! (Or a boat!)

Two large, sleek owls in comparison to your two year old's young, ball of fluffiness owl costume

Guardians of Ga'hoole? Your son could be the smallest owl (the little peppy russet one) and you could both be more adult main character owls.

Winnie the pooh and a kangaroo. (Unless you can get your husband to dress as Christopher Robins, which i bet you can't.)

I like Birdwatchers too, but Harry and Hermione (or Ginny, Tonks, Luna) would be awesome. Two random wizards would work just as well.

I was going to say Pooh characters, but really, what little kid is going to be happy being Owl when mom and dad are the much-cooler Winnie and Tigger?

I like the Harry and Hermione suggestion.

either one tree and one mouse, or two trees --- the nice thing about the tree idea is that if your little owl gets tired walking, he can "perch" in a tree.....

Response by poster: So many great ideas, and Greg Nog you made me laugh! I will confer with the husband when he gets home, thank you everyone.

Mr. Rogers. Especially if his costume is made of felt and he's going to be carried most of the time.

Squirrel Nutkin and either nuts or ninepins. (Yes, you can do it. One year my daughter was Little Bunny Foo Foo, I was the good fairy, and my husband was field mice. Yes, mice.)
