WordPress site notes area?

How can I create a non published area of WordPress for notes?

I must be overlooking something really obvious here but what I'd like to do is create and regularly update a Page or Post in Wordpress (containing notes on changes to the content and design etc.).

I know that it could be a Page/Post permanently in draft form but I'd rather not risk the possibility of publishing by accident.

Any ideas?

Best answer: Use the private checkbox, which is visible under All Pages, Quick Edit.

Download the Exclude Pages plugin. Install, and uncheck the "include this page in menus" box on any pages you don't want people (or search engine spiders) to navigate to.

Best answer: I would use a plugin, maybe something like Dashboard Site Notes Plugin.

Response by poster: "I must be overlooking something really obvious here..." a plugin! Doh! Thanks bcwinters, I'm installing it right now to have a look.

Response by poster: Actually, jbickers' suggestion of simply marking it as Private might be the simpler option - Pages/Posts set to private are definitely, 100% not visible outside the admin area?

Best answer: Tested it by marking a page private in Firefox, then trying to visit it in Chrome - in Chrome (not logged in as admin), it gives a "not found" error. But if you're logged in, you can see it. So only admins can see it, both in the admin area and on the site.

Response by poster: That's great, I'll give it a go - thank you!

Check your feeds to make sure that the posts aren't visible in them, too. I'm sure (without having checked) the built in privacy function handles that, but plugins might miss it.
