RHIT or RHIA?

I am exploring a career change into health information management. Is an RHIA worth the extra cost?

I am pretty sure I want to pursue a career in health information management. I already have a Master's degree in a different (but complementary) field. I am finding both RHIT and RHIA programs. There is a RHIT program at my local community college that seems enticing, but do I need an RHIA if I want to make more money/work in HIM director-level positions/teach HIM courses? I could do an RHIA-eligible program, but tuition may cost significantly more.
My essential question is--would I regret settling for an RHIT? Or can I save big on tuition and still get bang for my buck, career-wise?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
