Having recently splashed out on a nice black PowerMac 5500/275, I want to upgrade the RAM. I'm aware that it takes 168pin, 5v EDO DRAM (up to two 64mb DIMMS), but finding these in the UK is tough. I won two 64mb chips on eBay at 1p, but they're the wrong voltage. Anyone know a (cheap) supplier of the stuff here in England?

Offtek. Not cheap tho'. You're after memory that isn't that common so you're going to pay extra. You could probably pick up an iMac on eBay for the cost of 128Mb of RAM for the 5500...the alternative is to keep hanging round on eBay for the right voltage versions.

RAM doesn't cost very much to ship since it weighs so little. Could you get it from the US instead (or is there something about the voltage issue that I don't understand)?

OWC has 64mb chips for that model for 22 bucks.

Check out Crucial; they've got a memory configuration utility which will tell you what memory modules are compatible with your model of computer. Not sure if it's got your PowerMac in there, but it was fine for my mini...
