My company want to hire a musician to compose/perform a song in Japanese for a media project we're working on. Where would we even start looking?

Personal and professional contacts haven't yielded anything, so we don't even really know where to look. Looking for a foreign language performance kind of complicates things too.

Something sort of equivalent to a theme song of a TV show, in terms of scope. We do have a budget for this. Obviously it's not unlimited, but it's certainly not just $50 and a promise of "exposure" either.

Are there websites where performers looking to do work for hire have samples and contact info? Other resources? I'm sure there's at least a few someones out there talented and looking for a gig, but I don't know how we can find them.

Ask flapjax at midnight! He is all kinds of amazing, even made a badass song for me without me even asking

put an ad on Composition Today, ask for links to work samples. Be specific as possible about length, instruments wanted, words to be used, overall style.

You may have to get separate people for the composing and performing parts.

Also, I'll write it if you want...mefi mail me.
