The answer is probably to move to Europe, right?

Looking for a men's undershirt with the neckline of a tank but with short sleeves. Something like this, but not on a European website. Preferably affordable.

Having been a crew-neck-t-shirt-as-undershirt guy all my life, I recently tried switching to a "wife beater" style shirt. I like the way the neckline is low and wide enough as to be invisible even with the top button (or two!) of my dress shirts undone.

Problem is: B.O.

If I wear a tank undershirt, my dress shirts' armpits are stanky by midday, so I think I need to get back to having sleeves on my undershirts (as I've never had this problem before--even my undershirt tees never got as pungent as my dress shirts are now getting).

Can I have it both ways? The neck of a tank but with sleeves? I can't seem to find anything online. Ideally I'd like a solution of the cheap 3-pack variety.

Best answer: What about something like an American Apparel deep v-neck?

Is there some reason that a regular Hanes V-neck wouldn't do?

I was a crew-neck undershirt guy and have switched to Hanes V-necks. On the dress shirt I'm wearing right now the neckline is just below my 2nd button from the top. You can get 6 of the thinner variety at Target for $10.

V-neck guy here as well. They're not QUITE as good for hiding the undershirt as the tank but on almost all my shirts they're invisible with the top two buttons undone. Honestly on the ones where they show I find the shirt a little low at that button-level.

If you're as cheap as me you will want to keep an eye out for deals, probably at Wal-mart or Target. Unfortunately they don't work out any cheaper online (for no reason I can understand) but you'll find bonus packs at the big box retailers that will bring them down to the under $2 a shirt level.

Response by poster: All good answers.

The Hanes V-neck images I see online don't seem as deep as Admiral Haddock's image, but I'll give 'em a try for cheapness' sake.

Most of my crew-necks are American Apparel, and I like their quality, so I'll probably try some of those as well.

Yeah, Hanes v-necks seem to have come way up lately. It's basically a crew with a tiny dip in the middle. I can't even wear them with one button undone without peek through.
