Artist filter: Who painted this amazing painting seen in Massimo and Lella Vignelli's apartment?

Not sure myself but it's going to be tough to decipher the artist unless one already recognizes the painting in that picture since it's not very clear/big. if someone else wants to take a stab at answering, there"s a much clearer/closer partial view of the piece behind Ella Vignelli in this interview. Someone with a far wider familiarity with abstract painters might be able to tell by looking at the brush stroke patterns.

Seeing it in the video makes me wonder if it's Helen Frankenthaler. I don't think I've seen another painting by her quite like this one, but her name did spring to mind when I saw it.
