Grab a portion of my screen in video?

Are there any apps that capture video similar to command + shift + 4 grabs images?

I am having to send references of things from video constantly to editors. This video is in all different kinds of formats: dvd, youtube, random video player on internet, etc. I use command + shift + 4 100s of times in a day. Is there any kind of magical app out there that can capture a portion of my screen in video format? This would be SO helpful!

If not, what's the next best thing?

I love Snapz Pro X for video screencapture. It gives you a lot of useful settings for frame rate and output and can capture audio. It's also nice for doing your still screenshots.

Is this for Mac OS X (I'm assuming so based on the Cmd-Sh-4 reference)? If so, I think the best available application for a mac screen capture in video format is Snapz Pro X.

Best answer: Screenflow is another alternative. I have it and Snapz Pro X, and I prefer Screenflow because of its editing/zooming/annotating abilities.
