Help finding blinds for two window frames?

We found a nice rental but it has no window treatments and in two places we need something immediately for privacy. There is little money left over since the move so we’re looking for a great deal (but not curtains…we hate curtains). These are nice, but the reviewer says they’re not the best for privacy. Could they be modified to block out more and still look nice from the outside? Does anyone know of any sales on mini blinds from reputable stores? The two frames we need to cover ASAP are 69 x 64 but each frame has two windows. Is it customary to cover these together or separately? If seperately there are some good deals on narrower blinds we could manage. We have no experience hanging these and would appreciate any tips.

Next Day Blinds has some nice roller shades (really, not an oymoron) for decent prices. By spending a little extra to get a finial at the bottom they look quite nice. Not the $10 sears roller shades of my childhood.

In my son's room, we have one large shade covering three adjacent windows. It provides a ton of privacy and was pretty cheap and has nice clean lines without being stark. The web site doesn't really do it justice.

Response by poster: Whoa! These would cost $490 for our two frames. Our budget is more like $100.

Best answer: I did the windows within a frame separately in my last place. I wanted to be able to cover the one that the neighbors could easily look in, without having to have the blinds down across all the windows all the time.

I got a rollerblind from Ikea - very cheap and looked great, worth a look if you are nearby to one.

Best answer: I have paper blinds in my laundry room that were very cheap and can be cut with scissors to fit. I don't put them up and down often, but the come with clips for putting up.

They're pleated horizontally. I'll look for a link.

Best answer: Im not sure if there's a version that'd be big enough for you, but here's a link to a smaller version: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000I25XH0/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/182-1043332-7448633

Best answer: The cheap mini blinds at HomeDepot or Lowes are perfectly serviceable, especially for a rental. Just make sure that you measure the width of the window at both the top and bottom of the frame. Trust me on this, measure each window in at least two places, and go with the narrower measurement.

Best answer: Blinds are expensive. We found the best prices at blinds.com. That said, at your budget point you might be better off thinking creatively. Can you find some nice fabric to make swatches to throw over the windows? I know you said you hate curtains, but IKEA has cheap cheap cheap ones that you could chop up at will. There are plenty of tutorials on how to make Roman blinds/shades.

Response by poster: Just went over to blinds.com per bq's suggestion and they talk about "attached liners available." This suggests a way to make the cheaper blinds and Roman shades more private?
