Anyone interested in the "future of mankind"?

Does anyone thinks about "future of mankind"? If yes how often? And do people feel they know enough to be comfortable with their conclusions?

For 3 years now I frequently think about what is happening to "mankind" over a very long term horizon. That is I am concerned with what kind of life my children will live and what kind of life will be on the planet when overpopulation runs its course. I feel I have a very complete and comprehensive picture that explains well observations I made directly over my lifetime and fits perfectly all I have learned in biology, mathematics, anthropology, neuroscience.

I am interested if other people concern themselves with the fate of mankind at large over deep evolutionary time.

I am interested in replies of all kinds. Simple "yes" and "no" is good and elaborations of why are particularly appreciated.

Thanks a lot to all who care to stop by and write down their thoughts on the subject.

Hey, buddy. Welcome to Metafilter. This question is textbook chatfilter and will probably be deleted soon. Maybe you can try again next week with a more focused question (e.g. "please recommend some good books and/or blogs that focus on the future of mankind").

(In before all the comments get jokey.)
