Some weird bug is in our bed

My girlfriend was straightening the sheets before we got into bed tonight and found this little guy crawling around. It has a wispy tail and a bunch of little legs underneath and is about 2cm long. Anyone know what it is?

Can you fix the permissions on the photo? It's not viewable.

I can't see the picture, but "wispy" and "bunch of legs" makes me think house centipede.

Wispy could also be a silverfish. The like the damp. If it's been humid, they might be around.

Might be a silverfish from the description so far...no picture available yet. House centipede might be it if its a young one...the larger ones often generate more of a OMG WTH!? kind of post...or maybe thats just me, was the scariest looking kind of bug to ever catch crawling up my leg...

Carpet beetle larvae might meet the definition of wispy, but they are much smaller (1/2"?)

Response by poster: This link should work for the picture:

It's not especially damp in the room since there's ac, but it has been extremely humid out the past few days. We're in the NE: CT, USA.

It's a silverfish.

Response by poster: It didn't look like a silverfish to me. I know the photo I posted is not the clearest, but there were no antennae and a bunch of small legs underneath, none of them reaching out to the sides. Also, it was black.

Actually some types of silverfish are black. Based on your photo and description however, I'm guessing this was a type of carpet beetle larvae.

Google image search for "black silverfish" turns up similar-looking critters.

Aka: fur beetle larvae. If thats it, cabingirl was spot on.

The main thing is, it's not a bedbug. That was your real worry, right?

I don't know if the people mentioning silverfish have ever had them, but...yea, they look silver and sleek, not hairy. At least, in my experience when I found them near the cat food late one night.

Response by poster: I ruled out bed bugs almost immediately. Also, we have a water bed, so bed bugs were pretty unlikely. I just thought it was a weird little creature and unlike the silverfish I sometimes run into in the middle of the night in the kitchen
