Cheap Chacos

Do Chacos ever go on sale?

Mrs. Vegetable wants some Chacos. She can find some on sale for $76. Is this the lowest they go? If they go lower, where can she get them?
(Z/2 Unaweep, size Mens 9W, color some sort of blue.)

They rarely go on steeper sales. Occasionally steepandcheap has them, but you have to time it right. Occasionally they'll turn up on craigslist and the like.

Are you an REI member? Do you have a dividend or a coupon from one of their many sales? That's usually a pretty good way to get a discount. (for what it's worth, I think $76 is a pretty good deal for Chacos).

I've always gotten discontinued models (just the colors of the straps) on eBay for $40-60.

Last year's colors and styles go on sale very regularly, both at places like steepandcheap, reioutlet, 6pm and sierratradingpost and also from ebay sellers.

$76 seems pretty good though it seems better deals might be available for lady's versions. My lady friend has gotten several pairs for fairly cheap (less than $76) from Steepandcheap.

Another thing you can do is search Google Shopping. Lots of smaller outfitter places (Massey and High Country are two that I've bought other stuff from) have occasional big sales, probably partially as a way to clear deadstock and partially as a way to get their name out.

I picked up a pair for $25 at an REI garage sale back in the day. They've stopped doing the epic ones here at the Seattle flagship store (instead having a full-time sale in the basement) but I believe they still do them at the smaller stores nationwide. Of course you've got to get lucky to get exactly the ones you want, but it's worth checking out if there is one coming up near you.
