Tailors for women

Where can I find a tailor that makes clothing that are not suits?

I was looking through old posts and saw many tailors that seem to make suits for women and men. Does anyone have experience with trying to reproduce dresses or skirts or other types of women's clothing seen in fashion magazines?

I'm hoping to find a good one in Hong Kong but anywhere in the world is fine as long as they can mail the clothing to the US. (I live in Chicago).

I discovered eShakti from another comment here on the green - they do custom sizes and styles.

Best answer: Anastasia Chatzka runs a boutique in Wicker Park and also offers sewing classes. The more advanced students are designing and drafting patterns. She might be able to connect you with a student (or, for that matter, another seamstress in the area) who is available to do custom work.

Response by poster: I'm still interested in overseas tailors. They tend to be more affordable.

Stitch & Hem looks promising for custom clothing, though not reproductions. It describes itself as an "online marketplace for custom made clothing that is made to measure."

I live in Hong Kong and am sure I could find some tailors here who do reproductions, but I'm not sure how you would do business with them long distance (or if they would want to bother). I'll let you know if I find out more.
