Why do you love who you love?

You love someone or are in love with someone; you're in a relationship with a person you love. I'm wondering (of those who have loved romantically), What story do you tell yourself about why you love this person?

Some people say they love their partner because of x, y and z qualities, and yet many people have those qualities. There are all the psychoanalytic explanations for why we love who we love, such as the resemblance that person might have to family members... There's an idea in therapeutic culture that one's beloved is the ideal person to help you work through emotional/spiritual things, because of some fundamental compatibility or incompatibility... There are the religious or spiritual notions of having found one's soul mate. In some cases, love grows from familiarity, or because of kindness, or plain commitment.

I am curious to hear from individuals... Deep down, what is the reason you believe you love the person you love? Why them?
