Learning to Dive on Great Barrier Reef

Recommendations for PADI diving instruction on a liveaboard in the Great Barrier Reef?

Me and Mr. Kiddo are going to Australia/New Zealand for the first time in December. We want to do scuba training and do some dives on the reef while staying on a liveaboard. Researching has so far been confusing (options, pricings, etc.). Any recommendations and other info would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I did a five day course, two days in the pool/classroom and then a 3 day trip from Townsville out to the reef and the wreck of the Yongala.

Go on a course that allows you to dive the Yongala. It is awesome # 1 on the list of must dives). I think we dived Wheeler Reef before then, which was decent, but not in the same league.
