Do yuppy Brisbaners like Asisan grocery?

Would it be feasible to open an Asian-style grocery in Teneriffe, Brisbane, Australia, and would I be able to stop working for a corporate if I did? By feasible I mean profitable, and what would I need to do this and quit my 9 to 5 job with the evil insurance company? Hoping to hear from happy Mefites who run their own businesses, a tall order I suspect.

I'm thinking about the numerous Asian grocers in inner-Melbourne (in Collingwood, Richmond etc) and how we lack them in Brisbane.

I would like to offer a good range of Asian grocery items (above, beyond and more than the limited pan-Asian that are the supermarket offerings) and maybe a few select take-away items like 'stir-fry of the day' at dinner time. Maybe sushi at lunch. Curry night is Thursday night type of thing.

Teneriffe is over-moneyed but under-groceried type of neighbourhood and the new posh-Mediterranean grocer seems to be doing well.

I'm not quite sure what kind of question this is, because it sounds like you want someone to do all the work for you. Don't mean to be rude, but if you're so lazy that you can't look into this kind of stuff yourself, you're not fit to run a business.

@ryanbryan - I was a little inclined that way myself but I think the key is the title of the question "Do yuppy Brisbaners like Asisan grocery".

@evil_esto - I'm not an aussie but I visit from time to time. My first thought was to what degree are the asian groceries of Melb supported by a population of asian origin and to what degree does that population exist in Brissy ? Meanwhile there's loads of other boring stuff like how much does commercial real estate cost in Teneriffe etc ? To what degree do the asian grocery supply chains available in Melb exist in Qld. Etc, etc.

Response by poster: Ryanbryan - perhaps my fitness to run a business is actually my question. Hmm.

southof40 - I have started to look into the details and my brother-in-law is interested too (he has capital and a food-retailing background, also a local).
