Choice Notifications for Google?

In Google documents, how can I have my boss alerted when it needs to be viewed? He has an android phone and uses google mail coupled with Mac os X and mac applications. He has his gmail open all day and always has his phone with him.

I do NOT want to e mail him every time there is every little change. It would be wondering if some little alert could be on his e mail web page (like over the documents link) but I don't believe that exists. Anything in labs or other avenues we can think of?

To be clear, I collect questions for him throughout the day, and when there is enough to demand his time, I would love for him to be digitally notified somehow.

When you use the "Share" functionality it adds the person to the access list and emails them.

Response by poster: Yes, I've already shared with him. This is about an easy notification with I choose

Send him an email/sms only when this happens. "Yo boss, check docs ASAP" — 24 chars, 2 seconds, ample communication. You don't even need a subject line since gmail displays the first sentence of an email. The idea being, if there's enough to demand his time then there's enough to warrant more than a button-press from you.

You can even shorten it. "Docs ASAP" works.
