Can you help us find a Yorkie name?

My family is about to welcome a sweet little female Yorkie puppy into our family. We are terrible at coming up with pet names. Can you help us brainstorm?

So, as the question says, we're soon going to have this little girl join our family and we're all incredibly excited. The only problem is, we're not the greatest at coming up with good pet names! So, I ask you, oh powerful and creative Hivemind - can you brainstorm some names to help us out?

About the puppy: She is a Yorkshire Terrier, the smallest of the litter of 5 (4 of which were girls), has a tiny baby face, and has what I suppose can best be described as an "impish" personality. She's also very playful, cuddly, and loves giving kisses.

Pictures of said pup can be found here, here, and here.

We welcome any and all name suggestions, though we'd prefer names that are not size related (tiny, baby, etc.).

Thanks so much everyone!

For a Yorkie, I'd have a hard time resisting a historical name related to York somehow. I'd go with Cecily after the Duchess of York who was mother to Edward IV and Richard III. She was quite a character in her own right, plus it's a relatively unusual name.

The only possible name for her is Raisin.

Button.

Alternatively, something completely incongruous. A fierce name like Boadicea or Judith or the name of one of the Amazons. (Loved Joan Rivers' name for her male Yorkie.)

On preview, immlass' suggestion of Cecily is very good.

That link doesn't mention it, but Mignon means "small, delicately formed and pretty; dainty." Although I guess maybe for a girl it should be Mignonne?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Give her a couple of weeks and one day you'll just know.

That said (again), she's got to be the most adorable thing on the face of the entire planet! Long and happy lives together!

Damn that is a cute puppy.

Personally I like names that have some sort of personal meaning - related to one of your interests. For example, my SIL's Teacup Yorkie is named Banksy after the street artist...and this dog is anything but "street!"

Dog's names can be flexible. I've always got pet names for my dogs, I mean, they're names I call them above and beyond their "Name." My dog Diamond is Dime, or Diamo, or Pootsi or Pister. You don't have to have "The Name" right away, you can get to know the dog first and "find out" what her name is as you go along.

Have fun!

Every day, whenever she's not looking at you, call a name (not her name, as she doesn't have one yet.) Just pick names at random. Sooner or later -- perhaps right away, perhaps days into it -- she's going to turn around and perk up at something she likes in the sound of your voice saying a name. Then, that's her name.

and that's why my dog is named Petey.

Kidding! Nothing wrong with living with her 'til you stumble on the right name. We have 2 little ones. The first one we named on the car ride home but the 2nd one took a week. It was kinda weird but definitely worth it to wait for a name the humans agree on and that fits her personality.

Lady Godiva (Ivy for short)

Mitzie, Moxie, Betsy

Loosely on the British/York theme, a character fom Little Britain?
Bubbles DeVere ("Call me Bubbles, Darling! Everybody does!" "Champagne! Champagne for everyone!"), or Vicki Pollard ("No, but, yeah, but, no...").

Phyllis ("You are one crazy bitch!")

I am now absolutely in love with a Little Britain theme for future dog-pets. Our current dogs are Lincoln and Booth. My husband was thinking Garfield and Gateau, but I may have to veto. Good thing we have a while to think about it.
