How has New York ruined every other place for you?

Tell me your funny stories about how living in New York has spoiled you.

After a brief, (and my first) trip to the mid-west (Pittsburgh, Chicago, Madison), my realization that living in New York has spoiled me in more ways than one has been solidified. I have done a good amount of living/traveling/working abroad, but it is painfully clear that any city in the US will constantly be compared to the city that never sleeps. Since New York is in a league of its own (there I go again), this seems entirely unfair. Fortunately, it's also quite funny.

For those MeFites who are living or have ever lived in New York, tell me one funny story you've heard or experienced about how the city has clouded your judgment when it comes to assessing anywhere else. I'm trying to write a blog post on the subject, and would love some funny anecdotes to include. Credit will be given, of course.

"It's maddening to live here. But it's also amazing to live here. It's impossible to deny that this city is where all the good stuff is, and all that stuff can still be purchased at 3:50 a.m." - Chuck Klosterman.

Most of my "spoiled by New York" anecdotes can be summed up in this way.
